All auditionees are required to complete all three disciplines, and are expected to PREPARE MATERIAL IN ADVANCE for the audition as follows:
1: COMEDY- You will choose from a selection of short scene readings for the show depending on which character you intend to audition for. The scenes are for two people, and a reader will be provided at the audition to perform with you. You are not expected to memorize the scene.
2: VOCAL - There will be a choice of vocal selections from the show. You should pick the one based on the role you are auditioning for. Backing music tracks will be available for you to practice with, but you will sing with a live piano at the audition.
3: DANCE - There will be two dance routines available (beginner and advanced), with short instructional videos and backing music. You will be expected to learn the routine of your choice and perform it in a group at the audition. Note that the routine will not be taught at the time of the audition.
For licensing reasons, we are not able to give you access to the audition materials you will choose from until you register for an audition.
- AUDITION FORM -
You will need to complete an audition form as part of your audition process. You can download it here. Please complete the form carefully. We encourage you to return it in advance of your audition by email to SpamalotVTRep@gmail.com, but you can bring it with you on the day if you prefer.

- SCHEDULING AND COMMITMENT -
Rehearsals will begin in mid-March with performances at the end of June. Please understand that this is a big ensemble show, and participation will require a significant commitment. We ask that you genuinely consider whether you are able to make that commitment prior to the audition process.
We will require your conflicts from March 16th to June 30th at the time of your audition and the schedule will be created to accommodate all conflicts. Once scheduled, you will be expected to attend all rehearsals you are called for. Rehearsals will be three evenings and one weekend day per week, but performers will rarely be required at more than three rehearsals in one week.
Technical and Dress rehearsal dates are non-negotiable, as are the dates of performances. Combined, these are Friday, June 21st through Sunday, June 30th. If you have conflicts on any of these dates, we will not be able to consider you.
If you have questions, please email us. We’ll be happy to answer.
- CASTING –
If you are cast in the show, you will receive a phone call by end of day Friday, January 26th. If you are not cast in the show, you will receive an email by the same time. The cast list will be made public on or before Saturday, January 27th. Regretfully, we are not able to offer feedback on the audition process.
- VIDEO SUBMISSIONS –
We strongly encourage you to audition in person, however you may submit a video audition if you wish. The way you would do that is as follows:
Email to register your intention to submit a video audition. You will receive a link to the audition material by reply.
Send back a link to your audition video along with your completed audition form.
Submissions received after Saturday, January 13th, 6.00pm will not be considered.
- A NOTE ON GENDER –
Please audition for whatever role speaks to you the most. The pronouns used in the Character Descriptions are from the text. The presentation of the characters will likely reflect these pronouns but their performers may or may not.
- A NOTE ON OFFENSIVE MATERIAL –
This is Monty Python. The history of this infamous comedic powerhouse suggests that some of the jokes might cause offense to some people. If you are easily offended, this is possibly not the show for you, and we would encourage investigating some of the material in advance to ensure you share the spirit of the show. Access is widely available.
Any questions at all, please email us…

King Arthur
Legendary King of the Britons who sets out on a quest to form the Knights of the Round Table and find the Holy Grail. Great Humor. Good Singer. Looks fab in chainmail and generally comfortable with magical swords and holy quests. (30-50)

A diva! Source of the sword Excalibur and aquatic apparition who sends Arthur on his quest. Strong singer with large vocal range. Impressive comedic skills and an ability to improvise. (25-50)
Sir Robin
A Knight of the Round Table. Ironically called ‘Sir Robin the Brave’, though he couldn’t be more cowardly. Joins the knights for the singing and dancing. A Musical theatre Showman - looks good in sequins. (25-40)

A Knight of the Round Table. He is strong, powerful, bold and fearless to a bloody fault, but through a twist of fate, does discover his ‘softer side.’ Good with a sword and a shovel. (25-40)
