What are they?

The Williston One Acts is a festival of six one act plays that we stage in October. It’s when we turn The Rep (which is normally our rehearsal and construction space) into a 75 seat theatre to house 2 mad weeks of theatre: Six directors, Six plays, Six casts!

Not only do you not have to have any experience to be involved, that’s the very idea! It’s an opportunity for people to try something completely new in a fully supported low stakes environment.

Vermont Rep provides the venue, the marketing, the box office, the budget, the lights, the sound. All we’re looking for is the people to show up to put it together.

Ever wanted to direct but never had the chance? This is it. Or maybe it’s been a while and you want to brush the dust off.. or perhaps you’ve had a One Act play in your pocket for ten years and thought you’d never get the chance to stage it… Get in touch!

Interested in Participating?

If you’re interested in directing, the process begins with an email to Chloe, the producer of the Festival, at admin@vermontrep.com with an expression of interest. You do not need to have a play in mind.

The deadline for directing submissions is January 31.

We are also always looking for people who want to learn new backstage skills. Experience is not necessary - we have created this festival as a place to learn. The only pre-requisites are a good attitude, a desire to learn and a willingness to remain 100% available for the required dates.

We have opportunities in the following areas:

  • Scenic construction

  • Props

  • Costumes

  • Stage Management

  • Front of House (tickets, ushering and concessions)

  • Lighting and Sound
